This system awards points based on various factors, such as employment stability or entrepreneurship, being under 45 years old, having a valid Guangdong residence permit, paying social insurance for at least four years, obtaining at least 100 points (the newest draft requires 150 points) based on the “Guangzhou Points-based Household Registration Index System and Points Table,” and having no criminal record in the past five years.

For those who want to enter Guangzhou based on their education, the requirements have also been loosened. Individuals who have a bachelor's degree and under the age of 40 are eligible to apply for household registration, as long as they have participated in Guangzhou’s social security for one month.

Those who hold mid-level or high-level professional and technical qualifications and have paid social insurance for at least six months can apply for household registration based on their professional qualifications.

Lastly, individuals who hold relevant skills certificates and have worked in Guangzhou for at least six months can apply for household registration under the Guangzhou Skills-based Household Registration system.
